About the Blogger

In her mind Marita has several novels in various genres, including international bestsellers, that are wildly successful and hysterical. Her latest novel resides in a wire bound notebook scribbled in pencil for easy erasing, er, editing.

Marita C. Masuch was born and raised in New York under the flight path of JFK International Airport.  Her father was a steelworker and her mother remained home in order to devote maximum energy cultivating her depression to pass along to the children. Marita earned her Bachelors in English Literature and a Master’s in Library Science as an adult student preferring to party and drink prior to college life.  She moved as far away from New York as possible while still remaining in the contiguous lower forty-eight in her early twenties but foolishly returned to the northeast in 2001, two weeks before the towers fell.

Before returning to the northeast in 2001, she worked as a gas station attendant, insurance adjuster, an administrative assistant, and other various paycheck-to-paycheck careers. Believing the hype that a college education provides better opportunities, the author has been highly successful at recreating the paycheck-to-paycheck lifestyle prior to being completely unemployed in 2009.  Since unemployment proved to be so successful the author decided to listen to the voices in her head and call herself a writer.  When she’s not writing, she enjoys sitting on the sofa watching television or movies, playing casual games online, eating and occasionally playing with the cats. She divides her time between the sofa, the bathroom, the kitchen and the bedroom.

What the critics are saying:

“No one has become more adept at lazing on a sofa than this author.” ~~Some Big New York Paper

“If you seek a serious writer who can spin a memorable phrase and avoid all clichés, keep looking.” ~~ Anonymous college professor wishing to avoid any connection with this writer

“Habit-forming laziness.” ~~ National Daily Chronicle

“The greatest satirist only in her mind!”  ~~ Older Brother

“The author writes novels that are not only hilarious in her mind, but never see the light of day as well. She is an author without craft.”
~~ Former Co-worker

“All her posts exhibit the same boring comments about the world from her apartment.  Totally unengaging, deftly human failings are always offset by lack of moral depths. Dark, dirty, stupid  dialogue. Bland descriptions, similes and metaphors devoid of any intellectual depth. The only thing that can be pointed to is that it is meticulously written from first-hand experience….”
~~ The Turnip

“Indigo Spider  excels at ignoring cosmic issues.”
~~
Neighbor down the hall

“Indigo Spider is one of those many blogs that is laugh-out-loud funny from the pathetic, almost painful attempt, at humor from a middle-aged crazy cat lady.”
~~ News Times

“Indigo’s comedic style is consistently off the mark; when it comes time for her to deliver a satirical barb, she misses the opportunity with reliable accuracy.”
~~ Undergraduate Times

Nice to know. I’m thinking of writing for your sunday picture press. I will submit something when I’m done. =)

        1. Indigo Spider

Great! Looking forward to reading it; always happy to have more people jump on board.

      2. The Golden Knobloo

Btw, am I allowed to use the prompts for the old sunday picture presses too? Or are they closed?

        1. Indigo Spider

You can use any of the prompts, they are never truly “closed” but I update every Sunday by 3 p.m. (eastern) so if it submitted before that time I will include a link to the story in the update post to make it easy for people to find your story. If you miss the deadline feel free to comment on the newest update letting people know you have a submission for them to check out. All the writers are a pretty supportive group and like to read others works.

      Hi Jinx,
Thank you very much. I’m glad you enjoy my writing!

I can’t imagine you wordless, the wonderful writer that you are. I think it is a well deserved break you are taking! :)

    1. Indigo Spider

Thank you :) My computer needed it more then me it seems — infected with something nasty that has left me w/o a working computer now (last time I let my niece borrow my laptop). Luckily for other gadgets like smart phones and my Nook so I can at least connect, albeit limited, otherwise I really would have lost my mind!

  12. MyWordsWhisper

WOOHOO. Love the new look and colors, too. I have to admit I am scared to death of spiders but iIcan imagine this spider as something different because he is beautiful.

    1. Indigo Spider

Glad you like it! I felt it needed an update of some kind, still tweaking here and there. Been decidedly wordless this week so thought I’d at least update the look while working on other not-so-creative things. I was afraid to put a spider of any kind because I know some people are truly terrified, and I don’t like them but not all that scared, but this one I thought looked pretty good.

  13. screen_scribbla

Your intro to yourself that you obviously didn’t write yourself had me screaming with laughter. Sign me up.

  14. Linda/Positive Spin

So pleased to have met you, Indigo Spider!
I just need you to explain the name… or is it something an equally aging, cat loving blogger fom the UK wouldn’t ‘get’?
I’ve subscribed and can’t wait to get reading your ramblings… sorry, your humourous, hilarious, LOL, posts.
    Warm wishes,
    Linda/Positive Spin

    1. Indigo Spider

To be honest, not sure myself! When I was trying to think of a name for the blog I thought I want it to be something that normally I would not like, like wearing a color I wouldn’t normally wear, to break out of that box. Many years ago I was given this beautiful indigo vase as a gift and usually I don’t like blue but this particular shade of indigo is so beautiful that I decided I don’t like blue, but indigo is OK. So, I thought I hate blue, everyone knows I don’t like blue, lets go with that, indigo. Not sure where the spider part came from, other than doing a Google search there were many other “Indigo’s” out there, but not spiders so, it was unique, good sound, and I never expected it to be anything more than me talking to myself so what the heck!

      Thanks for visiting!
